The project

The Shopify store faced challenges with user experience and conversion rates, including difficulties in navigating product options, insufficient sorting and filtering on collection pages, and friction in the checkout process. Users struggled to differentiate color variants on product pages, leading to confusion and decreased engagement. The multi-step checkout process further reduced conversions, while the lack of detailed user behavior insights limited data-driven decision-making. These issues hindered key metrics like add-to-cart rates, session-to-conversion ratios, and average order value (AOV).

The approach

To optimize conversion rates, our team implemented Microsoft Clarity heatmaps to gain insights into user behavior and identify friction points. Product pages were enhanced with unique selling propositions, a temporary color catalog feature, and general reviews to improve usability and build trust. Collection pages were updated with new sorting options and basic filters to simplify navigation and guide users to relevant products. The checkout process was streamlined into a single-step format, reducing friction and increasing conversions, while additional adjustments were made to refine the overall user experience.

The results

The implemented changes led to a 15% increase in add-to-cart rates, a 20% boost in checkout conversions, and a 39% rise in AOV. Revenue increased despite a slight decline in user numbers, highlighting improved user engagement and higher transaction values. Future plans include advanced switch functionality, expanded filtering options, and integration of product-specific reviews.
